“If the only prayer you say in your life is thank you, that would suffice.” — Meister Eckhart
And…indeed, I have much to be thankful for. Believe it or not I’m thankful for not spending my formative years watching endless television,
or despite a present love of it’s possibilities, the internet or console games.
I am thankful of the travel opportunities of my infancy and youth that my parents provided and formed who I am today
– from Africa to Australia to the Middle East and everywhere in-between.
Lack of TV access meant I found my Father’s collection of dusty dog eared National Geographic magazines and the pictures within.
Looking back I’m sure those pictures of far of places and people planted the seed of my passion for still photography
– the capturing of a singular moment in time and the story within it.
I’m thankful that my Mother constantly nurtured me to find some form of artistic expression,
although for many years her words fell on deaf ears as I pursued other things.
And a grateful thank you that fate saw fit for a friend to persuade me to buy a camera and the epiphany that turned out to be.
And here I am. Namaste.
